Earlier this month, Accounting Aid Society was recognized as a Diversity Champion honoree at Corp! Magazine’s 15th Annual Salute to Diversity Awards; an educational event and celebration that features networking and speakers who share best practices on ways to move the needle on diversity, equity, and inclusion in organizations and business.

In the last few years, Accounting Aid has been increasingly focused on advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion within our organization. It is important to us that we have a talented, and culturally diverse team. This aids in creating an environment of trust and comfort alongside our quality services. We are continuously striving to be conscious and understand the cultural nuances of those who need our services. Additional reasons Accounting Aid was selected as a Diversity Champion this year, include:

  • Supporting and developing leaders of color in leadership positions
  • Actively centering the client voice and experience in our program design and delivery
  • Engaging in ethical story collection and storytelling that brings the lived experience of our clients and communities to life
  • Lifting up our small business clients, the large majority of whom are people of color, and encouraging our networks to support them, at this moment and always.

Priscilla Perkins, Accounting Aid president and CEO, and Lisa Howze, Accounting Aid Board Chair, received the award on the agency’s behalf. We’re honored to be recognized for our efforts to champion diversity, equity and inclusion within our organization and community at large.
