What Do You Need to Bring?

2010 Income Guidelines for Accounting Aid Society's Free Tax Assistance

Individuals:   annual household income of $25,000 or less
Families:       annual household icnomes of $50,000 or less
                      Families - married coaupled or a person with at least one dependent

Checklist: What to bring to a Tax Site: 

  c Identification/Social Security:

 __  Driver’s License or State ID

 __  Proof of Social Security numbers or Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN) for self
      
and spouse and dependents, if applicable

 

 c Income Statements or Forms:

       Most year-end income statements for 2009 will be mailed in January.  Depending on  your situation, bring all that apply to you.

__  Wages (W-2 Forms from all jobs worked in 2009)

__  Unemployment (Form 1099-G)

__  Pension (Form 1099-R)

__  Social Security (Form SSA-1099)

__  Supplemental Security Income (SSI),  Letter from SSA

__  Interest/Dividends (Form 1099-INT or 1099-DIV)

__  DHS Assistance (DHS Annual Statement)

__  Child Support  (Child Support Annual  Statement)

__  Gambling/Lottery Winnings (Form W-2G)

__  Miscellaneous Income  (Form 1099-MISC)

__  A copy of 2008 tax return, if available
__ Any other income documentation you may have

 

c Proof of Any Other Expenses (check all that apply): 
__
Purchase of new home or automobile
__ Energy efficient hom,e appliances and improvements (receipts should show Energy Star Rating) for insulation, windows,  furnace, air condioning system, water heater, refrigerator, clothes washer, dishwasher
__ Residential electric bills

__ Medical or HMO premiums paid for self and/or family

__ Dependent care expenses

__ Student loan interest or tuition and course materials

 

c For the Property Tax Credit:

      Homeowners: 

__  Bring proof of the taxable value of your home, plus your summer and winter property tax bills for 2009.

      Renters: 

__  Bring your lease or rental contract, rent receipts for 2009, and your landlord’s  name and address.

 

For the Home Heating Credit:
__
Bring the amount you spent on heating your home for the year. Renters may also qualify for this credit. This information can be found in your December, January and February statements. For 2009 taxes, the period will be 11/1/2008 to 10/31/2009.

To Use the Direct Deposit Option:
Direct deposit is the fastest and safest way to receive your refunds. To have your state and federal returns directly deposited into your bank account (or credit union account), bring  your bank’s name,  routing  number, and your account number.  If you have several accounts, you can choose up to three different accounts for direct deposit.
