“When I write a check to charity, I feel good,
but I don’t really see the direct results of that.
With Accounting Aid Society, I can see the direct connect.” -volunteer-

Help grow an economy that works for everyone — volunteer !
Volunteers are the cornerstone of our programs and services, and we depend on volunteers year-round. Volunteering with Accounting Aid is a great way to add new skills and to network. But most important, you are helping grow an economy that works for everyone in southeast Michigan.
We have several opportunities for you to share your time and talent. Each volunteer position requires its own unique training, time commitment
and skill set.
• VITA – Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program
We recruit and train about 700 people each year for our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Tax volunteers help community members maximize tax incentives by capturing tax refunds and tax credits.
Our tax training season begins later this fall, but you can register today if you have not already set up your own volunteer account. Then stay tuned for details about training times, locations and options.
We also have non-tax volunteer options. See our Tax Volunteer Positions and sign up today!
• Financial Opportunity Corps
If you are interested in interacting directly with community members to empower them and support them in reaching their financial goals, the Financial Opportunity Corps has a variety of volunteer positions. See our Financial Opportunity Corps Volunteer Positions.
• Low Income Taxpayer Clinic
If you are a CPA, attorney or Enrolled Agent, please consider volunteering with our LITC, where we help individuals who have disputes with the IRS (collections, exams, appeals, etc.), representation on federal tax matters in court, and identity theft matters in federal court. If interested, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
